One of the main things that gets the blame for our chubbiness is our deep, unbreakable love affair with giant cups of soda. Which is why this soda seems like a complete paradox.
--Starting tomorrow in Japan, Pepsi is releasing a new version of Pepsi they CLAIM can keep you from getting CHUBBY.
--It's called Pepsi Special. And the government has certified it as a, quote, "food for specified health uses" . . . since it contains some chemical compounds that help BLOCK your body from absorbing FAT.
--Now . . . that DOES mean it blocks bad fat AND good fat, but still. Soda that's able to block ANY kind of fat is a hell of a twist.
--Pepsi Special supposedly tastes like regular Pepsi and doesn't have a horrible aftertaste.
--There's no word on if or when it might make it to the U.S., but I'd guess the FDA is going to require a LOT of testing before it certifies a soda as a diet aid.
