KELLIE PICKLER shaved her head to support her childhood friend, Summer Holt Miller, who was diagnosed with breast cancer back in June.  They also recorded a video of the shaving, and it aired yesterday on "Good Morning America".

--Summer had a double mastectomy in August and is currently cancer free . . . but she still needs chemotherapy treatments to keep it from coming back.  She starts those treatments today and that's why she shaved off her hair.--Kellie and Summer are hoping to encourage women to get mammograms much earlier than the age of 40.  Summer is 36.  (--Here's a link to Summer Hold Miller's journal on the Caring Bridge website.  It's heavy, but also inspiring.)
