Go gourmet - Keep the food simple yet creative.

Save all the work for Sunday - Don't even think about  waiting until Sunday to start on the food and drink. Plan ahead.

Spend time hosting, not watching - Perhaps the most common  mistake made by party hosts is forgetting there's a championship game  going on.

Use fancy plates and silverware - Hosts might be tempted to  avoid disposable plates, cups and forks, so things stay classy. Another  mistake because touchdowns often mean broken glasses and plates.

Offer a full bar - Beer is essential to keep the football  experience legit but you may want to consider a themed drink-of-the-day, a  touchdown punch?

Rely on the TV for all your entertainment - Any celebration,  especially a Super Bowl party, gets a whole lot more interesting when you add  some games of chance.

Bet on the commercials, bet on who wins the coin toss, who gets the first  touchdown.  You've gotta have camaraderie among friends.
